If you are planning to continue to a PhD degree, there are steps you can take throughout the coming year to ensure that you are prepared to submit applications during or after your first year.  We advise you to attend the programs below and seek our support throughout the year as your plans take shape.

PHD APPLICATION SUPPORT TIMELINE

Autumn Quarter

• Attend Orientation for an overview of next steps.
• Register for and take any required tests (e.g. GRE Subject Tests, GRE General Test, TOEFL)
• Receive one-on-one feedback with a UChicago GRAD Writing Consultant
• Attend the Graduate Exploration and Preparation Seminar

Winter Quarter

• Attend GradUCon events for PhD applicants and other academic job track sessions.
• Participate in programs from UChicago GRAD that will help you learn more about the types of research and projects you can expect as a doctoral student.
• Join the MSPSD Lunch Break with current PhD students to learn more about the Ph.D. student experience

Spring Quarter

• Begin researching summer and gap year opportunities as relevant
